5TH-GRADE

New House & New School

At the end of Braden's 4th-grade year, we purchased a house in Denton, TX. We figured that we could move before he finished elementary so he could meet some classmates in a smaller setting before he moves to middle school in another year.

Around mid-year, his science teacher recommended him for the district's EXPO program - their Gifted & Talented program. He started testing in February, and was scheduled to finish after spring break - but then the COVID-19 pandemic was declared, and we didn't return to school that year...

Adderall and Lansoprazole remain to be part of the daily school routine. Braden did try going off of meds starting in January, but returned to taking them when all learning went remote after spring break.

5th- & 6th-Grade: About

6TH-GRADE

A Mostly-Remote Year...

3/4 of this year was spent learning remotely. Braden excelled at independent learning and became very close with the cats we adopted in January. He was accepted into the EXPO program that he was nominated for in 5th-grade. For the final 9-weeks of the year, he went back to on-campus learning. He returned for a woodshop class, but the teacher fell down some of the stairs at school and was out for almost the entire course. He did get to become familiar with the layout of the school, so he would be ready to return for a full year in 2021-2022.

Adderall is still part of his routine on school days. We are still working on developing good study habits and skills to help him focus better.
